Can you tell me the use of (A, An, The)? Give me examples. الجواب :- [/COLOR]The is used to refer to a specific or particular member of a group. For example, "I just saw the most popular movie of the year." There are many movies, but only one particular movie is the most popular. Therefore, we use the. "A/an" is used to refer to a non-specific or non-particular member of the group. For example, "I would like to go see a movie." Here, we're not talking about a specific movie. We're talking about any movie. There are many movies, and I want to see any movie. I don't have a specific one in mind. __________________________________ ،. المناقشة 4 ،. السؤال :- Dear Students, The third recorded class covers four main topics: prepositions (at, on, in) Can you tell me the use of (at, on, in)? In = before years and months / morning / evening / seasons. Just write two sentences. [/COLOR]الجواب :- [/COLOR]I usually drink pepsi while eating. I go to work everyday. ________________________________ ،. المناقشة 6 ،. السؤال :- The difference between simple present and present progressive. Can you explain to us the difference between them?Give us some examples. (Please give us the question form, the negative form of each verb tense). What’s non-action verb? الجواب :- [/COLOR]We use the simple present : 1. For facts. Whales live in the ocean. Aconcagua is the highest mountain in Latin America. 2. For repeated or regular actions. Flights to Buenos Aires leave every hour. I eat breakfast at the table. 3. For habits. I brush my teeth three times a day. He only drinks Martinis. 4. For things that are generally true in the present time period: She is my girlfriend. We study English. We use the present progressive tense: 1. When somebody is doing something at this moment. Sarah is changing her clothes right now. 2. When something is happening at this moment. When the action has started but hasn't finished. It is snowing at the moment. 3. To talk about something that is happening around the time of speaking but not necessarily at that exact moment. I'm reading a great book. (not necessary right at this moment) Non-action verbs are the verbs that cannot be used in the progressive tenses. Non-action verbs are: dislike , hear , believe , hate , see , know , like , smell , think , love , taste , understand , need & want. ________________________________ ،. المناقشة 7 ،. السؤال:- Dear Students, How can we form a wh-question? Give me one example. And Give me two sentences using simple past. [/COLOR] الجواب :- [/COLOR]1) Sentences with helping verbs. -You must invert the subject and the helping verb following the ‘wh’ word. Sammy is going to Florida. Who is going to Florida? 2) Sentences without auxiliary verbs. -Change the main verb to its Base form. -Sentences without an auxiliary verb need to have a form of the verb “do” inserted. -Place the wh word in the initial position The man broke the window. What did the man break? 3)The subject is unknown -when the subject of the sentence is not known, there is no inversion. -Just add the wh word to take the place of the unknown subject. is feeling sick. Who is feeling sick? example of simple past sentences : 1- She bought an old car. What did she buy? 2-The fox was in the garden. where was the fox? ____________________________________ ،. المناقشة 8 ،. السؤال :- Dear Students, Can you use many, much, little, a little, a few, few, some, any in sentences? He left a few minutes ago. .I'm sorry but there are few opportunities in this town Would you like some tea? I don' t have any money. ________________________________ .، المناقشة 9 ،. السؤال :- We have discussed the Adverbs of Frequency and past progressive tense in the 9th class. Answer one of the following questions. What are the four locations or positions of Adverbs of frequency? Give me an example for each position.OR What’s the difference between simple past tense and the past progressive? Give me examples. الجواب:- The Four positions of the adverbs of frequency are as follow:- 1-If there is a main verb in a sentence, put the frequency adverb immediately before it. E.g. she always does her homework. 2-If there is only one of the verb "To Be",put the frequency adverb immediately after the verb to be. E.g. the students are usually afraid of the final exams. 3-There is a helping verb and a main verb, in a sentence we put the frequency adverb between the helping verb and the main verb. E.g. our doctor has rarely switched off his mobile. 4-In case of question we just replace the subject with the helping verb. E.g.The doctor has never disappointed his students. has the doctor ever disappointed his students? ______________________________________ ،. المناقشة 10 ،. السؤال:- Dear Students, What are the eight parts of speech in English? الجواب:- The eight parts of speech in English are : 1-Verb. 2-Noun. 3-Adjective. 4-Adverb. 5-Pronoun. 6-Preposition. 7-Conjunction. 8-Interjection. _________________________________________
،. المناقشة 11 .، السؤال:- In our 11th lecture, we discuss the difference between comparatives and superlatives. Discuss the rules of each one, giving some examples. الجواب:- *Rules of comparatives are:- A= if the adjective is short,we add(-er+than) after the short adjective e.g.Ahmed is shorter than Noor. B= if the adjective is long, we add(more+adjective+than) e.g. Airplane is more comfortable than car. C= if the adjective is irrigular , the adjective will be as the following e.g. honey is better than sugar. **Rules of superlative are:- A= if the adjective is short ,we add( the adjective+est+of or in) e.g.:Aya is the tallest in her class. B= if the adjective is long, we add( the most\least+adjective+of or in) e.g. Saudi Arabia is the most beautiful country in the world. C= if the adjective is irrigular, we change the irregular adjective as follows e.g.This team is the best in the challenge. __________________________________________________ ______ ,. المناقشة 12 ,. السؤال:- In our 12th lecture, we focus on the uses of comparatives and superlatives. Discuss these uses, giving some examples. الجواب :- Comparatives and Superlatives are special forms of adjectives. They are used to compare two or more things. Generally, comparatives are formed using -er and superlatives are formed using -est. 1) Comparatives:- Comparatives are used to compare two things. E.g.Jiro is taller than Sarah. Sarah is tall, but Jiro is taller. 2) Superlatives:- Superlatives are used to compare more than two things. E.g.Ahmed is the tallest in the class. Mohammed is tall, and Salem is taller, but Ahmed is the tallest. __________________________________________________ ______ ,. المناقشة 13 ., السؤال:- What is/are the difference(s) between/among the article “the” and “zero article”? Provide your explanation(s) with example(s). الجواب:- The: definite article. You use it when you talk about a particular, specific noun. Example: The house around the corner from my house is blue. No article (Zero article): is required when you are talking in a general way about something. Examples: Houses are more comfortable than apartments. Life is sometimes difficult. __________________________________________________ ______ المناقشة 14:- السؤال:- In the 14th lecture, we have a short review of the main topics of this course. Discuss one of the topics that you most like. الجواب:- - I like verb "To Be" the most, verb to be is used as follow :- With Positive : I am from Seattle. He / She / It is from Toronto. We / You / They are from The kingdom of Saudi Arabia. With Negative : I am not (I'm not) from Seattle. He / She / It is not (isn't) from Toronto. We / You / They are not (aren't) from Japan. With Questions : Where am I from? Where is he / she / it from Where are we / you / they from? Read the text below as an example :- My name is Sultan Abudllah and I'm a teacher. My address is Green Street, 19 and my telephone number is 010001 . I'm 25 years old and I'm married. My daughter, Katherine, is two and half years old. My wife, Barbara, is Italian.
