هذي النبذه عن عصر النهضة :
Renaissance -
the word renaissance means {rebirth} it is used to describle generally the period 1350 _ 1600 in Europe the renaissance spirit came first to Italy and from there it travelled to france, Germany and England
The renaissance spirit came to England in 16th century. the period in England was great in what it achieved. sublime in what it dreamed . abounding in ripe wisdom, heroic in what deeds, full of right and of beauty and of life .
The rediscovery of classical authors and works provides ideas,materials, literary, forms and style to renaissance .
Revival of the knowledge of Greak language and Latin literature was made possible by invention of printing press .
Literature became individualistic, scientific and secular .
The classical models roused the intellectual and imaginative faculties of English writers .
They benefited much in pastoral poetry, epic, drama , lyrice , sonnet and prose‏

* Paraphrase :
The poet likes to leave his beloved as she always refuses his love and considers him as a miserable man . So he decides to leave her and enter the world of knowledge . Before his departure , he tells her that she can catch only the younger men but not him because he is a mature man . He hear the calls of Seneca and Plato's books and he accept their invitation .
He considers love as a dark jail and he would to be free from the jail .
He says that he is like a fish and his beloved is like a fisherman but her darts are very weak . She can only hunt the younger men but not him because he is an adult .
At the end of the poem he adresses his beloved and says that : you are like a rotten boughs which have a bad smell and no one can climb upon them .

Old and archaic words are used .

Regular rhyme scheme
abba , abba , cdd , cee

* Figures of speech :
Metaphor :
baited hooks - here the poet compares his beloved as a fisherman .
Blind error - love is blind it shoots arrows to prick the victim of love , there we have metaphor and personification both .
Rotten bough - here beloved is compared as a rotten bough which have a bad smell and no one can climb upon them .
Farewell love - personification , love is treated as a person .
* Theme :
The theme of this poem is love . The poet talks about his decision to leave his beloved and go to another world , which is the world of knowledge .
* Form :
It is a sonnet consists of 14 lines .

Thomas Wyatt
Sir Thomas Wyatt was born in Kent in 1503 . He was a 16th century English poet . He was educated at St. John's college , Cambridge . Wyatt was a poet and ambassador in the service of Henry VIII . He had a son called Thomas Wyatt the younger .
None of Wyatt's poems were published during his life time . The first book of verse was printed a full fifteen years after his death . He and Lord Henry Haward , earl of surrey were the first poets to use the form of the sonnets in English . He translated several sonnets of Italian poet Petrarch . He imitated the works of Seneca and Horace . His best known poems are those that deal with the trails of romantic love . ( love lyrics , courtly love , pain , ill treatment at the hands of his lovers )
