Main Characteristics of a Useful Model.
For a model to be useful, it must possess the following
characteristics:
مواصفات النموذج الجيد....حتى يكون النموذج مفيدا يجب ان يتصف بالتالي:
1. It must faithfully represent the theory that it stands for
يجب ان يمثل النظريه بأمانه...

2. It must do this by revealing significant characteristics of the phenomena explained by the theory
يجب ان يكشف لنا خصائص وصفات ومميزات الظاهره المشروحه في النظريه

3. It must have a heuristic function; making it easier to grasp the explanation (i.e. the theory) and doing that in a way which makes further studies easier and leads to deeper understanding

Using the Six Wh-Questions in looking for Equivalence in translating a text.


1- What ? Is the message contained in the text, the content of the signal,
the propositional content of the speech acts.
1 - ماذا؟ هي الرسالة الواردة في النص، ومحتوى للإشارة،
مضمون اقتراحي من أفعال الكلام .
2- Why? Orients us towards the intentions of the sender, the purpose for which the text . was issued.

2 - لماذا؟ يوجهنا نحو نوايا المرسل، والغرض الذي نص. . صدر.
3- When? Is concerned with the time of communication realised in the text and setting it.in its historical context; contemporary or set in recent or remote past or future
3 - متى؟ تشعر بالقلق مع الوقت للاتصال تتحقق في النص وتحديد ذلك. في سياقه التاريخي؛ المعاصرة أو تعيين في الماضي القريب أو البعيد أو المستقبل
4- How? Is ambiguous as it can refer to:
4 - كيف؟ غامضة لأنها يمكن أن تشير إلى:
a): manner of delivery: the tenor of the discourse; is it serious or ironic?
أ): طريقة التجهيز: فحوى الخطاب، وهل جادة أوساخره؟
b)- medium of communication; the mode of the discourse : is it oral or written?
ب) - كوسيلة للتواصل، ونوع الخطاب: هو شفوية أو مكتوبة؟
5- Where? Is concerned with the place of the communication; the physical location of speech speech event realised in the text.
5 - أين؟ يهتم مكان الأتصال، والموقع الجغرافي للكلمة كلمة أدرك الحدث في النص.

6 - من؟ يشير إلى المشتركين في البلاغ؛ المرسل
والمتلقين. تحدثا وكتابة تكشف عن خصائص اللغة أو. الكاتب كفرد.

What is a Good Translation?

من هو المُترجم الجيد؟
According to Bell, وفقاً لـ بيل
a good translation is //المُترجم الجيد هو
that in
which the merit of the original work is so completely
transfused into another language, as to be as
distinctly apprehended, and as strongly felt, by a
native of the country to which that language
belongs, as it is by those who speak the language of
the original work.”
فيه مزايا العمل الاصلى تماما نقل إلى لغة أخرى، بشكل واضح القبض, بقوة من من اهالى البلاد التى ينتمى اليها اللغة, كما اولئك الذين يتكلمون لغة العمل الاصلى".

Three Laws of Good Translation//ثلاثة
قوانين للترجمة الجيدة
As a result of the above good definition of translation, the following three laws
emerge from it.

:نتيجة للتعريف الجيد أعلاه للترجمة، وفيما يلي ثلاثة قوانين
1- That the Translation should give a complete transcript of the ideas of the original work.
1 - أن الترجمة ينبغي أن تعطي نسخة كاملة من أفكار العمل الأصلي.
2- That the style and manner of writing should be of the same character with that of the original.
ان اسلوب وطريقة الكتابة يجب أن تكون من نفس الطابع مع ​​ الأصل.
3-That the Translation should have all the ease of the original composition.
تلك الترجمة ينبغي ان يكون لديها كل سهولة تركيب النص الأصلي .

Translation as process and product

الترجمه كعملية وإنتاج :
A more advanced definition of translation can be seen when we look
at it as process and product. In other words:
تعريف الترجمة الأكثر تقدماً يمكن أن يُرى عندما ننظر إليها كعملية وإنتاج , بعبارة أخرى :
: “It is the abstract
concept which encompasses both the process of translation and the
product of that process”.

: "وهذه هي مجردة
المفهوم الذي يشمل كلا من عملية الترجمة وعلى
الناتج من هذه العملية ".

*- Translating : is the process i.e. (to translate; it is the activity rather than the tangible object)
- ترجمة: هو عملية (لترجمة، بل هو النشاط بدلا من الكائن الملموس)

- A Translation: is the product of the process of translating (i.e. the translated text)
- ترجمة: هو نتاج عملية ترجمة (أي النص المترجم)

The Source Language SL
1-It is the language to which the text to be translated belongs

2-It exists as a language regardless of translation
تعتبر لغه قائمه بحد ذاتها
3-Any SL has its own meanings, grammar, sounds, culture and
Tradition, even if it has no writing system or linguistic studies

4-The SL is the starting point of any translation
نقطه انطلاق للترجمه
5-The SL constitutes an essential point when investigating the translation phenomena
هي نقطه اساسيه في اي بحث يتعلق بالترجمه

The Source Text ST

1-The source text is the text which has been chosen for translation
هو النص الذي تم اختياره ليترجم
2-The ST could be a spoken or written message, or even both
قد يكون محكيا او مكتوبا او الاثنين معا
3-The ST is normally given to the translator to translate
يعطى هذا النص للمترجم ليترجمه
4-The Translator chooses a text in rare cases out of interest or for research purposes
المترجم لايختار النصوص ولكن يتم تزويده بها
5-The ST limits the translator who cannot change whole parts of the source text
لايستطيع المترجم ان يغير فيه
6-The ST is the very central and initial point for the start of the Translation process
النص المصدر هولاالنقطه الرئيسيه لانطلاق الترجمه
7-Understanding the ST is the first step in the process of translation
النص المصدر هو اول عمليه في الترجمه
