Grammar: Simple Past Tense
قاعده : الفعل الماضي البسيط


Read the following Paragraph. Underline the verbs that tell about the past. Then answer the questions.
قراءة الفقرة التالية. نؤكد على الأفعال التي تخبر عن الماضي. ثم الإجابة عن الأسئلة.

Ben Holmes started the Farm School in 1991. Holmes, a city kid from California, spent summers on his uncle’s farm in Ohio. There he learned to love working on the land. He created the school because he wanted to teach kids that work is about using your body and your mind together.

Regular Verbs
الأفعال العادية

To form the simple past tense for regular verbs, add –ed to the base form. = المآضي البسيط ..
For example:
want -> wanted
If the verb ends in (e), add only –d.
For example:
arrive -> arrived

If the verb ends in (consonant + y), change the y to i and then add –ed.
For example:
study-> studi -> studied

Irregular Verbs
الأفعال الشاذة

Irregular verbs really don’t have a rule. That’s why they’re called “irregular”. .. Here are some examples
اكل = eat -> ate = يآكل
ذهب = go -> went = يذهب
صنع = make -> made = يصنع
قال = say -> said يقول

( No >> ed )
