is an introductory course which surveys the
main topics of General Linguistics. It starts from discussion of the general
properties of human language and moves on to introduce the main levels of
linguistic analysis: Phonetics, Phonology, Morphology, Syntax and
Grammar, and Semantics and Pragmatics. It also relates recent developments
in Pragmatics, Sociolinguistics, Psycholinguistics and Discourse analysis to
the general theory of language
