بدء الأدب الامريكي فعليا في القرن 19 التنوير ( The Enlightenment ) في القرن 18 الواقعية ( Realism ) في القرن 20 الحداثة ( Modernism ) بدأت في أوائل القران 20 ( نهضة هارلم ) بدأت بعد الحرب العالمية الأولى وانتهت عام 1935 القصة القصيرة the Story of an Hour حصلت أحداثها في أواخر القرن 19 وايضا مغامرات هاكلبري حصلت أحداثها في منتصف القرن 19 قبل الحرب الأهلية |
