Present Progressive (continuous)

Past ----------- now ---------- future

Present Progressive means something that happening now at this moment

The rule

If we have Verb to be we have to think of ing

Verb to be (is, am, are)

Pronoun (he, she, they …)

subject + verb to be + verb +ING

Noun (pronoun) + Verb to be = Verb+ing

Present continuous: Affirmative

I am writing <<= that happening right now

I am eating
you are eating
(He, She, it) is eating
(We, You, They) are eating

Interrogative... How we can make questions

We have to move the Verb to be to the beginning of the sentence

am I writing? << = Questions

Am I eating?
Is (He, She, it) eating?
Are (We, You, They) eating?

Negative… how we can make the sentence negative??

Simply we add not or thecontracted form

I am not writing <<= negative

I am not eating
(He, She, it) isn't eating
(We, You, They) aren’t eating

Signal words… it's the words that help us to find the correct answer

Look! , Listen

Test-Taking Strategies

The boys ____ to the gym everyday
a) going
b) go
c) goes

in this sentence we have everyday which make the sentence present simple so going not the correct answer here
and the boys are plural if it was singular we take goes
so the right answer is go

Sary is _____ to the radio right now
a) listening
b) listens
c) listen

present progressive (continuous) is something happening now
and we have right now in the sentence so the correct answer is listening

Mubarak and Huda usually_____ their parents
a) visits
b) visiting
c) visit

we have usually make the sentence present simple so Visiting not the correct answer
and Mubarak and Huda are plural and because of that Visit is the correct answer

Salim ___ a lexus car
a) drives
b) driving
c) drive

When we talk about 1 person we use the "S" so the correct answer is drives

Reem _____ to a new house
a) moving
b) is moving
c) move

we don’t have moves to choose since its 1 person and we need verb to be to make the sentence present continuous so the correct answer is " is moving "

Jamal _____ at 9.30pm
a) sleeping
b) sleep
c) sleeps

Jamal is 1 person so and this thing happen every day at 9.30pm
it's simple present and the correct answer is Sleeps

we _____ a new house
a) buy
b) are buying
c) buys

it's not a something we do every day so it's not simple present grammatically it's correct but the meaning is wrong so Buy not correct answer
and it's not buys because we do not we do not use "s" with we
so the correct answer is are buying

Maha _____ as a manager
a) working
b) works
c) work

It's a fact and 1 person and with 1 person we add the "s" so the correct answer is Works

I _____ drinking milkshakes
a) like
b) liking
c) likes

Liking something is a habit which means its simple present

So like is the correct answer
