what is the difference
 
Some English vocabularies has different uses even though they
seem to have the same meaning..
in this topic i'll try to provide some of the differences between similar vocabularies

i'll be happy with ur participations as well

ما الفرق بين especially و specially



ESPECIALLY


You use especially to emphasize that what you are saying applies more to one person, thing, or area than to any others.


مثال
:
I love all sports, especially Tennis.
أحب كافة الألعاب الريائية خاصة كرة المضرب

SPECIALLY
If something has been done specially for a particular person or purpose, it has been done only for that person or purpose.


This table has been designed specially for you.
هذه الطاولة صُنعت خصيصا لك

.

إذن كلمة Especailly نستخدمها عندما ننتقل من العام إلى الخاص، فمثلا انتقلنا في المثال الأول من المعنى العام (الألعاب الرياضية) إلى الخاص (لعبة كرة المضرب)


أما specially فنستخدمه عندما نقول أن شيئا ما يخص شخصا ما وأنها خصيصا له. فالطاولة لم تصمم للجميع بل صممت خصيصا لشخص ما.

Like - used to compare two nouns.

e.g

Incorrect - Gita and Sita, as their mother Reema, are extremely smart.
Correct - Gita and Sita, like their mother Reema, are extremely smart.

As - used to compare two clauses. (A clause is a phrase that includes a verb).

Incorrect - Just like swimming is good exercise, running is a way to burn calories.
Correct - Just as swimming is good exercise, running is a way to burn calories.

Note : Do not use Like when you mean for example.

Coarse / Course



1) Coarse
caorse means rough

كلمة بمعنى خشن أو غير لائق



Example: He had coarse manners but an absolutely first-rate mind



His coarse language angered us

2) Course

a- course can be onward movement, or a series of studie

كلمة(فصل تعليمي)
قد تأتي بمعني سياق الأمور أو دورة



Example: in the course of events

a four-year course in engineering

he took a course in basket weavingb- course can also mean a part of a meal served at one time




قد تأتي أيضا بمعنى جزء من وجبة طعام

Example: The first course was adelicious soup



she prepared a three course meal

Agree to something: Give consent to; accede to
Agree to a suggestion, to agree to an action proposed by someone else.
e.g:
Russia and Spain agree to Cooperate In Energy Sector

نستعمل agree to
للتعبير عن الموافقه على اقتراح او على فعل قام به شخص اخر

Agree with someone/ something: get on, be good for, suit; to approve of it
Agree with a person, opinion or policy
e.g:
The copy agrees with the original.
I don’t agree with some of the issues they have raised in the rating rationale


نستعمل agree with
للتاكيد على راي الشخص الاخر

Different from vs Different than



Different from means not the same.

e.g -- Sara's taste is different from mine.

Different than -- In US English, than is an alternative to from before a clause.

e.g -- Sara's appearance was very different than I'd expected.

NOTE : different than is generally always wrong when comparing two nouns. Different than is only correct when a sentence compares a noun and a clause.

Look for = يبحث عن


Look after = يعـتـني بـ


Look at = ينظر إلى
Look like = يشبه

Examples

The difference Between Maybe and Perhaps


Maybe and Perhaps mean the same thing.

You can use them interchangeably. The only difference is that "perhaps" is used more often in England and it is also considered a little bit more formal than “maybe”.

Don't worry too much about it though because they can be used in any situation interchangeably.



Maybe and Perhaps ((بمعنى ربما))
تعطي نفس المعنى لكن perhaps تستخدم في اللغه الرسميه اكثر من maybe

I think it's clear by this example
one is used for singular
and ones is used for plural

The difference between exercise & practice


1-
exercise

physical activity that you do to stay strong and healthy

something you do to help you practice a skill

a set of written questions or set of activities for traing soldiers


practice

to do something regulary to improve your skill or ability

بالنسبة للفرق بين الكلمتين practising - exercising

بالعربي المعني للكلمتين متقارب فنقول ( ممارسة - تمرين - تدريب )

الاختلاف في اللغة الانجليزية يكون كالتالي :

في الالعاب الرياضية دائما نستخدم كلمة exercise بمعنى تمرين رياضي بدني او ذهني كتمارين او تدريبات

المواد الدراسية

اما كلمة practise فتعني تمرين او تدريب متكرر لتنمية مهارة معينة كمهارة العزف على آلة الكمان

القاعده الاساسية ان different دائما تجي مع حرف الجر from
لكن في حالات شاذه قد تاتي مع than في الامريكان انجلش
وفي البريتش انجلش تاتي different TO

so its
someone is different from someone else
but

someone is taller than someone else

Iphon is different from Blakberry
Tom is different from John
my opinion is different from yours
My house is different from Jill’s house
and so on
comparing between two nouns

لكن متى نستخدم than بعد different
لما تكون عندنا بعد than جملة (clause)
يعني نقارن بين جمليتن وليس كلمتين او اسمين

e.g
The situation is a lot different today than it was yesterday
.
notice that after the word than there is a clause


يعني باختصار نستخدم from مع كلمة different دااائما لما نجي نقارن بين شخصين اوو كلميتن اوو شيئين ..
لكن في حالات شاذة قد يستخدم than اذا كنت تقارن بين جملتين اوو حتى شبه جملة
وو اذا احترت مرة وش تستخدم فالخيار الافضل انه from لانه هو القاعده الاساسية

في جملتك اللي انت كتبتها
Sara's taste is different than the others

مانقدر نستخدم than ليه ؟
لان المقارنة هنا بين شخصين موبين جملتين

فالافضل انقول
sara's taste is different from the others
or
Sara's taste is different than it used to be
