السلام عليكم ورحمة الله،،


أقدم لكم شرح مختصر لمادة النحو والصرف Syntax & Morphology

معلومات عن الفيديو:

1. الوقت: 10 دقائق إلى 15 دقيقة
2. اللغة: الإنجليزية فقط وليس هناك شرح بالعربي.

I don't think the links are broken. They are working perfectly alright. Many have the same issue, though the videos are clear, well-shot and uploaded successfully.

Hello F!x

The word "kindness" is a noun that means the state of being kind to others. The reason why it is "noun" is for its suffix (NESS) attached at the end of the RRRRrrrrrroot word "kind". After attaching it, the word becomes (NOUN) as in (kindNESS)

you can find the answers in lecture 13
Actually, the professor's material lecture says roots are always free. This can be found in lecture 3 in the characteristics of the root words. Nonetheless, My personal opinion is that I think roots are always free because they are meaningful by their own on.

When adding an affixation, whether Inflectional or Derivation, the base form can still be understood unlike the affixes.

OK, the answer for this concerning question is my own knowledge about Syntax.

Here is answer below:


A root is a word that carries the most significant meaning. It has no affixation. Thus, it is always free.
Consider the word: Horse, tiger, book.

They are free roots.

However, the confusing part is derived words such as treat-ment, respect-ful, govern-ment..

These are words with a root morpheme and a bound morpheme (derivational or inflectional)

Therefore, from my own understanding, I 'd say that roots, which contain no affixes, are always free.
