Verbs
تعريف الأفعال وأنواعها
The verb is the central unit (nucleus) of an English sentence.
Verbs can refer to actions, e.g. run, walk and talk, or states, e.g. want, have and be.
الفعل هو الوحده المركزيه للجمله في اللغة الأنجليزيه
وأعطانا مثال علي الفعل مثل المشي والكلام وغيره

Main vs. Helping Verbs:
الفعل ينقسم الي قسمين
الفعل الرئيسي
Each English sentence has a main verb.
e.g. Mohammed walked home.
e.g. Khaled is happy.
الفعل المساعد
Some sentences also require one or more helping verbs (auxiliary verbs).
He is coming to the meeting.
He could come here soon.
إذا وجد في الجمله فعلين فالأول رئيسي والثاني مساعد

نجي لأنواع الأفعال المساعده
Helping verbs (auxiliaries) include:
1. be (is, am, are, was, were)
2. have, has, had
3. do, does, did
الأفعال في 1&2&3
هي أفعال مساعده ولكن يمكن أستخدامها كفعل رئيسي اذا جاءت بالجملة بمفردها
4. Modal auxiliaries: can, could, shall, should, will, would, may, might.. etc.
These verbs (with the exception of modals) can also function as main verbs. e.g. He is here.
ونستثني ألأفعال المشروطه فلا نستطيع أستخدامها كفعل رئيسي

Transitivity:الأفعال المتعديه
Verbs are divided into two groups based on transitivity:
تنقسم الأفعال الي أفعال متعديه وأفعال غير متعديه
1. Intransitive verbs are verbs that require no objects.
e.g. Birds fly. The man spoke.

Transitive Verbs are verbs that require objects. This group can be further divided into:

والنوع الاخر أفعال متعديه وتنقسم الي أفعال متعديه بمفعول به واحد وأفعال متعديه لها اثنان من المفعول به

A. Monotransitive verbs are verbs that require only one object:
e.g. Khaled broke the window.

B.Ditransitive verbs are verbs that require two objects.
e.g. Saleh gave Majid a pen.

Direct vs . Indirect Objects::
As we saw in the previous section, ditransitive verbs take two objects. One of these objects is called a directs object and the other one is called an indirect object.
The indirect object comes first followed by the direct object in this exampl
e.g. He gave me a book..

directs object هذا يطلق عليه مفعول به مباشر بالفعل
indirect object.هذا النوع مفعول به غير مباشر
The is typically personal as in “me” in the previous example, and “the man” in the following example:
He asked the man a question.
The indirect object is often equivalent to a prepositional phrase with “to” or “for”.
e.g. He gave a book to me.
He bought a gift for his son.
